rest

Now the promise of entering into God’s rest is still for us today. Hebrews 4:1a (TPT)

I have been noticing lately how much of my identity- how I feel about myself- is based on what I have accomplished each day. Every week. Year after year.

God promises rest. Models rest. Invites us to rest.

So we must be extremely careful to ensure that we all embrace the fullness of that promise and not fail to experience it. Hebrews 4:1b (TPT)

I want to embrace the fullness of this promise. To experience Sabbath. To not be afraid of frailty or weakness. A countercultural call.

So then, we must cling in faith to all we know to be true. For we have a magnificent King-Priest, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who rose into the heavenly realm for us, and now sympathizes with us in our frailty. Heb. 4:14 (TPT)

Jesus knows. Jesus understands.

So now we draw near freely and boldly to where grace is enthroned, to receive mercy’s kiss and discover the grace we urgently need to strengthen us in our time of weakness. Heb. 4:16 (TPT)

If you are feeling tired today. If you are feeling frail. If you are in urgent need of strength. Then you are in the right place. Where grace is enthroned. May we embrace rest, trusting that God is in control, not us. -Renée
