possibilities & provision
A journaling practice that emerged for me this year is to spend a few minutes each morning over my second cup of coffee remembering and recording the unimagined possibilities that emerged the day before. How did God surprise me with beauty through my senses- a glimpse of a fox, special bird sightings, tasty tidbits, gracious gifts, and unplanned experiences? God’s abundant generosity and endless creativity become more noticeable when I pause to reflect, helping me to breathe in possibility for the new day ahead and gratitude for yesterday and unanticipated blessings today.
Beginning 2026, I am prompted to remember and record the unimagined possibilities that emerged for us as a fellowship. 2025 was a year of God’s provision through the unexpected. Our budget projected a substantial deficit, prompting us to pray earnestly and repeatedly for God to supply all of our needs and to guide us into wise generosity.
Thanks to faithful giving, our tithes exceeded our predictions. Meanwhile, God provided a grant for the Regional Planning Commission to utilize our fellowship hall as a winter family shelter, generating income to maintain the building and partnering to help the vulnerable. An unexpected estate donation from a community member’s passing provided significant relief when finances seemed tight. Concluding 2025, our income met our expenses, and we are incredibly grateful to begin 2026 with a nearly-balanced budget.
The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world and its inhabitants too. Psalm 24:1
God has continued to bring people to serve together- running the sound board, providing childcare, designing and printing the bulletin, cooking for fellowship meals, managing our finances, and more. Our musicians lead us in vibrant worship and many voices contribute to in-person and online services as we celebrate and walk together through life’s difficulties. God has opened doors that we didn’t imagine, allowing us to share the good news of justice through our Reparations ministry, provision through the Family Fund, and partner with the work of God’s kingdom through our Missions, Mercy, and Justice budget.
You are the light of the world. A city on top of a hill can’t be hidden…. In the same way, let your light shine before people, so they can see the good things you do and praise your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:14&16
May we be open to the possibilities of 2026, to see God at work among us and in our world, and to be the light that shines in the darkness, bringing glory to our heavenly Father. Thank you for your partnership in ministry. May you be blessed for the blessing you have been this year, and may we continue to be delightedly surprised at God’s provision. -Renee
