choose differently

For 16+ years, I was a school counselor. My spouse divides days between two elementaries and a middle school. My daughter attends college in Nashville, where she is studying to be a teacher. This semester she’s in Europe, working on her Spanish major, far away from American guns.

The thief enters only to steal, kill, and destroy. John 10:10a (CEB)

Our hearts are heavy with the headlines. We mourn with those who mourn. There must be a better way. There is a better Way.

I came so that they could have life—indeed, so that they could live life to the fullest. John 10:10b (CEB)

Jesus came so that we might live. Now. To the fullest. And so, with Jesus, we weep. Choose life, Moses taught us. We must choose together, as a people. Differently.

May God have mercy. Jesus, have mercy. We are broken. So lost, in need of a shepherd.

“I am the good shepherd. I know my own sheep and they know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. I give up my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that don’t belong to this sheep pen. I must lead them too. They will listen to my voice and there will be one flock, with one shepherd. John 10:14-16 (CEB)
